About Us

The International Tax Week unites students, lecturers, and professionals from across Europe to explore taxation in an international context and connect theory with real-world practice. Every year, a different partner university hosts this long-standing tradition, combining lectures, case studies, and teamwork with cross-cultural exchange.

This Year's Edition

In 2025, Artevelde University of Applied Sciences proudly hosts The International Tax Week, welcoming participants from eight universities across six countries. For one week, students will immerse themselves in lectures, and hands-on case studies focused on the theme of transfer pricing. Working in multinational teams under the guidance of expert tutors, participants will tackle realistic business scenarios, present their solutions to academic and professional experts, and gain practical insights into international taxation. The week is designed not only to challenge students academically, but also to foster collaboration, intercultural understanding, and professional growth.

History & Origin

The first International Tax Week was held in 1992 as a collaboration between Artevelde University of Applied Sciences and the University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven. Founders Guido Deboutte and Wim Reynebeau wanted to create a learning experience that went beyond the traditional classroom, combining academic study with practical, real-world application. Over more than thirty years, The International Tax Week has grown into a respected international tradition, attracting students and lecturers from across Europe and evolving in scope and ambition while staying true to its original mission.

Purpose & Impact

Each edition of The International Tax Week focuses on a central tax theme, selected for its relevance to international business and public policy. Students work in diverse teams to analyse complex cases, present their findings, and receive constructive feedback from professionals and lecturers. Beyond the academic challenges, The International Tax Week encourages intercultural collaboration, teamwork, and networking, providing participants with skills and experiences that will support their future careers. By combining learning, problem-solving, and international exchange, The International Tax Week offers a unique environment where theory meets practice — and connections and friendships formed during the week often last long beyond the event itself.

Partners & Support

The success of The International Tax Week relies on the dedication and expertise of its partner universities and professional contributors.  Lecturers, tutors, and industry professionals all contribute their time and expertise, helping students bridge theory and practice while fostering international collaboration. This collective effort ensures that The International Tax Week remains a high-quality, inspiring, and unique learning experience year after year.
